Dr. Mingo is a psychologist who offers expert guidance to meet the client's needs in a safe, trusting and supportive environment. He has extensive experience with evidence-based practices, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) among others, and draws upon these evidenced-based practices to provide an individualized, down-to-earth, straightforward approach. He takes great care to provide a genuine atmosphere of respect and compassion, which includes considerations of cultural background and beliefs held important by the client. He also believes it is essential to clearly explain a therapy plan of action, which can often include collaboration with the client, and if indicated, can also include one or more of the following (with the client's permission): the client's family members, persons close to the client, and other treatment providers (e.g., psychiatrists).
He has extensive experience working with individuals, families, and couples in multiple settings, including outpatient clinics and hospital settings. His experience has included, but is not limited to, those individuals experiencing the following areas of difficulty: anxiety, depression, grief and loss (e.g., loss of a loved one, divorce, job loss, loss of a relationship), relationship conflicts (e.g., family relationships, marital and romantic relationships, work-related conflicts), unhealthy communication styles. Dr. Mingo believes a safe, supportive, trusting and respect-based atmosphere is vital to supporting clients obtaining a valuable understanding of themselves and others, and learning and practicing coping techniques.
